摘要: Summary: Colonies of Microcystis in Abbots Pool, Avon, UK, were found to regulate their buoyancy according light (photon flux density). The autumnal decline the population was associated with an increase proportion colonies that non-buoyant, and declining temperatures pond. Non-buoyant taken from pond regained dark rapidly at 20°C but only slowly 12°C below. A laboratory strain behaved a similar manner. Comparisons behaviour this organism placed 8°C made; high photon density lost both due accumulation dense carbohydrate. When transferred cells became buoyant again as carbohydrate utilized more gas vesicles much less used no gas-vacuolation occurred. failure regain low accounts for loss sedimentation Pool.
