Clinical handover in acute psychiatric and community mental health settings.

摘要: This study collected an area-wide snapshot of current handover practice in psychiatric settings which included acute care units and community mental health centres. The was conducted two stages. Firstly, a questionnaire sent to all clinical staff within service regarding normal procedures processes. second part the used non-participant observers evaluate actual handovers inpatient settings. Of 1125 surveys distributed stage one, 380 (34%) were returned completed. 40 observed 637 patients discussed, 40% at least one consultant psychiatrist or registrar as participant. Almost completed face-to-face specific location with set time duration. Eighty-six per cent respondents reported that deteriorating escalated for rapid response. results survey structured observations support issues emerging from literature medical, surgical team handovers. Additionally, issue identifiers deterioration patient emerged area worthy further investigation incorporation into education training services.
