摘要: The MAP kinases ERK1 and ERK2 represent a subfamily of the protein with significant role in hormonal signal transduction. They are ubiquitous, growth factor-stimulated that phosphorylate thereby modulate properties many proteins have key regulatory functions. These include other kinases, transcription factors, membrane enzymes, cytoskeletal (e.g., tau, MAP2). This wide array phosphorylations results their pleiotropic properties. Aberrant activation may contribute to pathological changes phosphorylation tau associated Alzheimer’s disease. X-ray crystallographic studies revealed important features its phosphoregulatory mechanism should be valuable developing specific kinase inhibitors.
