摘要: Objective: A review of literature referable to management issues for women with epilepsy (WWE) was undertaken the development a practice parameter. Background: Epilepsy is common neurologic condition gender-related implications. Although reviews this topic often focus on pregnancy-related WWE, specific health concerns WWE are present throughout all phases reproductive life. Methods: An OVID MEDLINE search conducted 1965 1997 using following key words/phrases and cross referencing: epilepsy/seizures pregnancy, anticonvulsants, antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), teratogenesis, oral contraceptives, birth defects, folate/folic acid, vitamin K, metabolic bone disease, breast-feeding. Results: Pregnancy outcome spans several decades. Methodology varies interpretation complicated by modern strategies. Contributions socioeconomic factors, AEDs, maternal epilepsy, seizures during pregnancy adverse outcomes have not been clearly delineated. There biologic basis recommendations concerning contraception, folate supplementation, K use in breast-feeding, catamenial endocrine disorders, but no studies afford strong evidence base recommendation. Conclusions: face which there available guide decision making. The urgent need many these areas highlighted expanded treatment options new AEDs surgery.
