摘要: The use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in developed countries has increased significantly over the years. Among most popular are weight loss supplements or "fat burners." Liver failure due to these remedies been widely recognized. Usnic acid an ingredient dietary that cause liver failure. Its hepatotoxicity not recognized because it is usually mixed with other ingredients presumably hepatotoxic. We describe a case 28-yr-old woman who presented fulminant requiring orthotopic transplantation, after taking pure usnic for loss. This first report on associated ingestion acid. A discussion about different compounds presented. reminder clinicians potential side effects CAM.
