Increasing Community Recycling with Persuasive Communication and Public Commitment

摘要: Persuasive communication and public commitment were used to encourage recycling in a citywide program. The persuasive was combination of factors which have been found by laboratory researchers produce attitude and/or behavior change. manipulation involved signing statement supportive recycling. Households did not recycle during 6-week baseline period selected for experimental study. Trained Boy Scouts made an oral informational then gave each 201 households one three treatments (a written communication, commitment, or both). A control group 132 homes received no treatment. Recycling observed 6 weeks following delivery all treatments. Results indicated that the treatment groups recycled significantly more than but differ from other. Future directions applied work this domain are discussed.
