摘要: Evidence-based dentistry is currently a high priority in the clinical practice of orthodontics. Treatment decisions are made using evidence-based information whenever it available to clinician. The focus this article evaluate current literature on long-term stability rapid maxillary expansion. was reviewed from 1979 2009, and all systematic reviews meta-analyses were included evaluation. Clinical trials, retrospective or prospective, also reviewed, even though they did not always meet inclusion criteria set forth. This review shows that, based evidence provided by 2 there lack strong expansion adolescent patients with posterior crossbites at initiation orthodontic therapy. Factors responsible for include attrition rates, adequate control groups, unclear diagnosis ill-defined study end points, standardization studies. conclusions that can be drawn our as follows: clear need well-designed well-controlled prospective trials evaluation expansions. At present time, orthodontists must accept some treatment modalities do yet have level effectiveness.
