摘要: As we have pointed out1 that the 3-carbon atom unit comprising ring atoms 6 and 7 exocyclic carbon (indicated in heavy type) pteroic acid (I) might be derived from a triose, 3-phosphoglyceraldehyde phosphodihydroxyacetone being specifically mentioned, suggestion by O‘Meara, McNally Nelson2 strongly reducing non-sulphydryl substance found bacterial cultures during logarithmic phase of growth reductone, CHO.C(OH) : CH(OH), seemed to us considerable significance connexion. O‘Meara his colleagues suggested p-aminobenzoic acts as stabilizing agent for reductone metabolism, enabling cell store utilize it required, presumably, context, after hydrolysis – condensation product free reductone. They also showed compound was capable utilized streptococci source energy growth, sulphonamides interfere with combining preventing becoming available use cell.
