摘要: Strength-promoting intercrystalline links in polyethylene, crystallized from the melt, have been observed under electron microscope. The measure up to many thousands of angstroms length (depending upon molecular weight polymer) and are order 100 A diameter. Their formation appears be initiated by chains which contact, begin crystallize upon, surfaces two or more different crystals, often some distance apart. Deposition continues until these bridges pulled taut. More molecules laid down build larger links, themselves crystalline may well extended-chain single crystals.
