摘要: The elimination of racial discrimination has long been a dominant American social concern. Laudably, economists have contributed many studies which attempted to identify and quantify such discrimination, particularly in the area housing market. research reported here, while following this tradition, employs new approach attempting discover not only magnitude price but how its burden is incident upon different types nonwhite households. A model urban markets will be developed from bid-rent theory allows one isolate empirically distinct contributions interracial differentials made by variations households' preferences, incomes, packages versus those discriminatory actions. Bid-rent functions econometrically estimated for individual household observations stratified into groups comparable age, family size, education, socioeconomic class, race. These used estimate what various strata would willing bid typical white-occupied units. divergencies between bids prices actually paid whites provide measure existence confronting groups.
