Food addiction in adults seeking weight loss treatment. Implications for psychosocial health and weight loss.

摘要: The present study examined food addiction symptomology and its relationship to eating pathology psychological distress among adults seeking weight loss treatment. A primary interest was an examination of the between symptoms short-term loss. Adults beginning a behavioral program (N=57) were given Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS) as well measures distress, disordered eating, bias, weight-focused attitudes. Weight measured after 7 weeks. Severity related increased depression, emotional binge anti-fat attitudes, internalized body shame, low self-efficacy, but not satisfaction. Increased also less lost at Findings suggest that individuals attempting lose while combating may be especially prone eating-related pathologies, shame. Importantly, findings provide evidence undermine efforts weight. associated with (e.g., tolerance, withdrawal) could make adoption more healthful habits difficult.
