摘要: Abstract Young adult monkeys (Macaca mulatta) were irradiated with protons variable in energy and dosage given at different rates. They died or killed intervals their brains spinal cords examined for several changes including the status of mast cells (MCs) (see Ibrahim 1974). Depending on animal dosage, initial these included various combinations partial complete degranulation, anisogranulation, hypertrophy moderate to marked increase number. These are similar recorded literature respecting MCs outside CNS; they resolved, but incompletely, within a few days. When delayed radionecrosis occurred months later, same recurred generally more intensely sometimes accompanied by parenchymal perivascular leptomeningeal mononuclear cell inflammatory infiltrates. Calcification pigment transformation some occurred. Also, 3 cases oligodendroglial proliferation central white matter was seen intense MC damage. This is interest relation experimental human demyelination. An aetiological relationship between both early vascular damage possible. The suggestion made others, that many features due hypersensitivity reaction, here reiterated, addition there seems also be possibility involved providing antigen either directly indirectly. Vascular must responsible radionecrosis.
