摘要: There is continuing need for new and improved drugs to tackle malaria, which remains a major public health problem, especially in tropical subtropical regions of the world. Natural products represent credible sources antiplasmodial agents antimalarial drug development. Endophytes that widely colonize healthy tissues plants have been shown synthesize great variety secondary metabolites might possess benefits. The present study was carried out evaluate potential extracts from endophytic fungi isolated Symphonia globulifera against chloroquine-resistant strain Plasmodium falciparum (PfINDO). Sixty-one fungal isolates with infection frequency 67.77% were obtained bark S. globulifera. Twelve selected classified into six different genera including Fusarium, Paecilomyces, Penicillium, Aspergillus, Mucor, Bipolaris. Extracts 12 tested PfINDO, nine showed good activity (IC50 < 10 μg·mL−1) three Paecilomyces lilacinus = 0.44 μg·mL−1), Penicillium janthinellum 0.2 sp. 0.55 showing highest promise. These found be less cytotoxic HEK293T cell line selectivity indices ranging 24.52 70.56. Results this indicate are promising hit compounds further investigated as novel malaria. chemical investigation active ongoing.
