Postoperative evaluation of patients following ophthalmic surgery.

摘要: We have used telemedicine to support the postoperative evaluation of patients who had ophthalmic surgery. Mobile workstations connected using three ISDN lines enabled us review at an outreach clinic on first day. Video slit-lamp images patient are captured by a trained nurse and viewed surgeons Moorfields Eye Hospital in central London during live teleconsultations. During study period, over 80 teleconsultations were carried out cataract, trabeculectomy combined procedures. Preliminary results very encouraging. Although 8 (33%) 24 anxious about being involved teleconsultation, 20 (83%) confidence system only one (4%) found experience unacceptable.
