摘要: Object. Nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas comprise approximately 30% of all tumors. The purpose this retrospective study is to evaluate the efficacy and role gamma knife radiosurgery (GKS) in management residual or recurrent nonfunctioning adenomas. Methods. A review was conducted data obtained 42 patients who underwent adjuvant GKS at University Pittsburgh between 1987 2001. Prior treatments included transsphenoidal resection, craniotomy conventional radiotherapy. Endocrinological, ophthalmological, radiological responses were evaluated. duration follow-up varied from 6 102 months (mean 31.2 months). Fifteen observed for more than 40 months. mean radiation dose tumor margin 16 Gy. Conformal planning used restrict optic nerve chiasm. Tumor control after achieved 100% with microadenomas 97% macroadenomas...
