摘要: Elicitation of biological responses by estrogen in target tissues requires the presence ER as well receptor-active ligand local microenvironment. Though much attention has been devoted to study receptor tissues, concept is emerging that tissue sensitivity may also be regulated availability through metabolic transformation situ. Here, we show targeted disruption, mouse, an enzyme, sulfotransferase (EST), causes structural and functional lesions male reproductive system. EST catalyzes sulfoconjugation inactivation expressed abundantly testicular Leydig cells. Although knockout males were fertile phenotypically normal initially, they developed age-dependent cell hypertrophy/hyperplasia seminiferous tubule damage.
