摘要: Summary Purpose To investigate the clinical significance of bilateral temporal hypometabolism (BTH) for patients with mesial lobe epilepsy (MTLE) by using statistical parametric mapping (SPM). Methods Interictal 18 F-FDG PET scans were performed 29 surgically treated MTLE. Clinical data, interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs), ictal scalp EEG and intracarotid amobarbital test (IAT) analyzed. assess an image, SPM analysis as well visual interpretation applied. Results In 9 patients, scan revealed BTH analysis, while only 3 showed assessment. When classified into unilateral (UTH) groups based on results, bitemporal IEDs occurred significantly more frequently in group than UTH (66.7% versus 22.2%). Bilateral independent seizure onset seen present group. Lateralized was less (44.4% 83.3%). There no statistically significant difference age at onset, duration epilepsy, generalized seizure, history febrile convulsion CNS infection, lateralization throughout whole tracing, IAT test, surgical outcome between groups. Conclusion Bilaterality findings correlated method. Our results suggest that may have a role predicting those excitability or epileptogenicity, these should be monitored carefully.
