摘要: We have examined the role of two mesenchymal ligands epithelial tyrosine kinase receptors in mouse mammary gland morphogenesis. In organ cultures glands, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF, scatter factor) promoted branching ductal trees but inhibited production secretory proteins. Neuregulin (NRG, neu differentiation stimulated lobulo-alveolar budding and milk These functional effects are paralleled by expression factors vivo: HGF is produced cells during virgin animal; NRG expressed mesenchyme development at pregnancy. The (c-met, c-erbB3, c-erbB4), which cells, not regulated. culture, morphogenesis could be abolished blocking endogenous respective antisense oligonucleotides; oligonucleotide-treated again induced addition recombinant NRG. thus show that major postnatal morphogenic periods dependent on sequential mesenchymal-epithelial interactions mediated
