Too much computer and Internet use is bad for your grades, especially if you are young and poor: Results from the 2001 Brazilian SAEB

摘要: This work presents the analysis of 2001 Brazilian Basic Education Evaluation System (SAEB) achievement exam. The SAEB tested 4th, 8th, and 11th grade students, in mathematics reading (Portuguese). We classified students into seven socioeconomic classes, for each class, compared test results according to frequency computer use, ownership, Internet access at home, whether teachers used computers as pedagogical tools. Frequency use had, general, a negative effect on results, increased younger poorer students. Computer ownership small positive older no 4th graders. had Finally, teacher or tools student's all social economic classes grades.
