摘要: Measurements of the multiple ionization cross section ratios Cesium were performed with ion time-of-flight (TOF) spectroscopy a magneto-optical trap (MOT) apparatus, updating previous measurement which dates back almost century. Results are presented for collisions at energies 50 eV to 120 eV. With MOT, experiments can be trapped, cold atomic targets allow unparalleled accuracy and significant excited state target fractions above those achievable in most beam experiments. A basic overview optical cooling trapping, electron collision phenomena presented. Experimental studies electrons Argon performed, measuring TOF spectroscopy. The experimental apparatus analysis methods described detail. compared measurements both targets. Agreement within error is found results Tate Smith across energy range.
