摘要: Sediment samples obtained from eight drill cores (surface to −300 ft.) taken at the site of new Chesapeake Bay bridge near Annapolis, were analyzed for elemental and mineralogical composition. Optical emission spectrography, X-ray spectrometry, other techniques utilized obtain data on concentration distribution following elements: Si, Al, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Pb, C, H, N S. These associated information indicate heavy metal-clay mineral associations. Metals environmental interest, e.g., lead (60 <1 ppm), copper (54 <10 cobalt (355 16 nickel (58 5 vanadium (135 40 are enriched surface relative deeper sediments. Most metals 2–3 times less concentrated in these sediments than Baltimore Harbor, long a active metal loading.
