Nutrition label use mediates the positive relationship between nutrition knowledge and attitudes towards healthy eating with dietary quality among university students in the UK

摘要: The aim of this study was to investigate whether nutrition knowledge and attitudes towards healthy eating are predictors label use (NLU) dietary quality in a diverse sample university students the UK. An online cross-sectional survey conducted 2013 among 500 (mean age 24.9 years; 75% females) 37 UK universities. Nutrition knowledge, attitudes, NLU were assessed using previously validated questionnaires. majority participants met recommendations for fat, added sugar fast food intake, failed meet calcium, fibre, fruit vegetable dairy product resulting median score 2.0 (score range = 0–8). differed according gender, age, body mass index (BMI), nationality NLU. Attitudes BMI gender. significant quality, with mediating latter relationship, whereas NLU, when controlled negatively predicted but did not have independent relationship diet. Future interventions improve should focus on improving eating.
