摘要: Background: Caffeine and cannabis are globally consumed abused psychoactive substances. While caffeine is legally used in various forms, including tea coffee as beverages, it also soda energy drinks additives. Cannabis, on the other hand, considered illegal most countries; albeit, being particularly by adolescents. Purpose: The adolescent stage marks a critical of brain development maturation. Influences agents at this may affect neuronal structural functional attributes. To end, current experiment effects selected key neurotransmitters enzymes tissues after regimented treatment for 21 days. Methods: A total 72 juvenile Wistar rats that were approximately 40 days old divided into 6 groups A-F. group served control. Other administered dosages or distilled water, using oral gavages follows: B animals received 100 mg/kg body weight caffeine, C 50 D 500 cannabis, E 200 F low dose (200 weight) plus (50 weight). killed cervical dislocation 24 h last administration. excised homogenized. cytochrome oxidase glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase assayed to observe tissue metabolism while gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA), glutamate, dopamine substances their activities relative mental activities. Results: GABA, generally higher treated animals. levels G-6-PDH all animals' brains. produced quite more significant combination both increased level significantly. Conclusion: Results showed influenced brain. Both stimulants altered chemistry tested neurotransmitters.
