摘要: Xerostomia is an unsatisfactory diagnostic criterion for the salivary component of Sjogren's syndrome (SS). To determine usefulness presence focal sialadenitis in labial gland (LSG) biopsy specimens, 362 patients suspected having SS prospectively underwent a unique LSG procedure. The pattern and severity inflammation were compared with measurements parotid flow rate, or absence symptomatic xerostomia, major enlargement, keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), other connective tissue diseases (CTD). focus scores >1 correlated more closely diagnoses KCS alone plus CTD than did either reduced rate symptoms xerostomia (P < 0.0005 P 0.05, respectively). Focal adequate specimen objective disease-specific feature any disease. should be redefined as sialadenitis.
