Insect biodiversity of the Socotra Archipelago – underlined and counted

摘要: Altogether, 1,564 species taxa (identified at least to the genus level) from 25 orders of Hexapoda have been recorded Socotra Archipelago date. In addition, members Diplura and Ephemeroptera are known archipelago as well, but they not identified so far. The most speciose order in beetles (Coleoptera) with 540 species. total number endemic described is 662 species, which represents 42% all vast majority main Island (1,520 635 taxa). diversity insects briefly commented on compared nearest – Seychelles.
