Motivation for Employment in Norwegian Adults with Mild Intellectual Disability: The Role of Competence, Autonomy, and Relatedness

摘要: In Norway, very few people with intellectual disability (ID) are employed, and most of them receive a pension. This suggests that they may not face financial need for employment, but participation in the labor market provide persons ID other benefits, such as social inclusion self-realization. article explores what motivates Norwegian adults to participate market. The study is based on qualitative interviews use photovoice seven employees from sheltered workshops competitive their employers. A thematic structural analysis revealed following themes: experience self-efficacy, having sufficient workload, personal development, self-determination, salary, relationships, meaningful employment. These themes were then structured into three categories Ryan Deci’s (2002) self-determination theory: competence, autonomy, relatedness. Findings suggest value work sense self-efficacy it gives contact floor provides. Participants reported little autonomy at work.
