摘要: Methanotrophs are the only biological sink of greenhouse gas methane. To understand ecological features methanotrophs in association with plants methane emitting environments, we investigated community composition and oxidation associated duckweeds a fresh water lake. Duckweeds collected from Lake Biwa, Japan over three summers showed consumption activity between 0.0067 0.89 μmol h−1 g−1 (wet weight), highest values occurring end July to August. The methanotrophic on consisted primarily γ-proteobacterial groups including genera Methylomonas Methylocaldum. Further analysis co-cultures methanotroph isolate sterilized duckweed revealed that plant as well spent culture supernatant exerted an enhancing effect oxidation. These results indicate not provide habitat for but also stimulate growth.
