摘要: Abstract Background Differences in structural and functional skin characteristics have been linked with ethnical background. But racial differences not thoroughly investigated by objective methods the data are often contradictory. Objectives This study was undertaken to compare barrier-related parameters of stratum corneum on African American, Caucasian East Asian measurements. Methods Baseline values trans epidermal water loss were collected face. Consecutive D-squame® tape strippings panelist's ventral forearm face evaluate barrier strength cohesion. Stratum ceramides, maturation, measured as transglutaminase-mediated cross-linking proteins, trypsin like enzyme activity strippings. Results some extent characterized low maturation relatively weak barrier. American ceramide levels high protein cohesion uppermost layers corneum. These can be interpreted terms prevalence xerosis black increased sensitivity skin. Conclusion results demonstrate that properties at level vary considerably among these ethnic groups. contributes an improved understanding physiological between populations.
