摘要: INTRODUCTION Although a great deal of research focuses on adolescent cigarette smoking, little is known about the process by which adolescents attempt to stop smoking. Resisting temptations smoke one key challenges encountered individuals who smoking cessation. A large body literature has examined coping with temptation among adult smokers, and this issue for lacking. To further our understanding in area, present study reports an initial examination Smoking Temptation Coping Questionnaire (STCQ). The STCQ, assesses social pressure situation involving cigarettes, was adapted from Questionnaire, brief self-report measure use alcohol other drugs. METHODS included 109 participants (aged 14-19 years) naturalistic self-change. Participants completed baseline 6-month follow-up interviews. RESULTS Exploratory factor analysis STCQ scale yielded single including six strategies temptations. Analyses provided support concurrent, predictive, construct validity STCQ. In particular, score significantly predicted prospective duration abstinence engaged cessation efforts. DISCUSSION These results provide preliminary utility addition, findings role process.
