摘要: Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), a traditional Indian herb, has been widely employed in ayurvedic medicine. Various compounds isolated from leaf and root of this plant are used treating human illness ranging weakness, anxiety, rheumatic pain, diabetes, infertility, oxidative stress to cancer. In past two decades, scientific evidence for the neuroprotective effect further validates its use treatment Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease spinal cord injury. This chapter discusses effects various components neurological disorders, majority which have studied using animal models or cell lines. Extensive explorations into mechanistic aspects mandatory validate findings obtained confirm their therapeutic potential system. order explore drug brain it is important investigate herbal on primary cells. emphasizes neural stem cells (NSCs) as an vitro model study gain novel insights underlying mechanism action under physiological pathological conditions. Different sources also described with detailed insight method deriving NSCs.
