Strength of Square-Tube Connections under Combined Loads

摘要: An economical connection of intersecting square structural tubes can often be achieved by welding horizontal members, the beams, directly to a continuous vertical member, column. The present investigation was limited connections between compact same size. Combined loading tests were conducted on 11 fabricated specimens; five with 4 in. sq (0.102 m) and six 6 (0.152 tubes. A theoretical analysis strength also made. showed that unreinforced in conservatively estimated superposing interaction diagrams for: (1) General yielding arms due combined bending torsional moments (2) localized column failure local buckling crippling under axial load bending. Equations for construction such are given.
