摘要: Abstract The CLK/STY kinases are a family of dual-specificity protein implicated in the regulation cellular growth and differentiation. Some shown to phosphorylate serine–arginine-rich splicing factors regulate pre-mRNA splicing. However, actual mechanism that regulates cell growth, differentiation, development by remains unclear. Here we show functionally conserved kinase exists Schizosaccharomyces pombe , this orthologue, called Kic1, surface septum formation as well late step cytokinesis. Kic1 is modified vivo, likely phosphorylation, suggesting it can be involved control cascade. In addition, kic1 + together with dsk1 which encodes related SR-specific kinase, constitutes critical vivo function for growth. results provide first evidence functional conservation through evolution from fission yeast mammals. Furthermore, since division cell–cell interaction fundamental differentiation an organism, novel role revealed study offers clue understanding its counterparts higher eukaryotes.
