摘要: Reactivation of varicella zoster virus (VZV) from latently infected human ganglia usually produces herpes (shingles), characterized by dermatomal distribution pain and rash. Zoster is often followed chronic (postherpetic neuralgia or PHN) as well meningitis meningoencephalitis, cerebellitis, isolated cranial nerve palsies that produce ophthalmoplegia the Ramsay Hunt syndrome, multiple (polyneuritis cranialis), vasculopathy, myelopathy, various inflammatory disorders eye. Importantly, VZV reactivation can radicular without rash (zoster sine herpete), all neurological listed above The protean ocular produced in absence are a challenge to practicing clinician. presentation these conditions varies acute subacute chronic. Virological confirmation requires demonstration amplifiable DNA cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) blood mononuclear cells, presence anti-VZV IgG antibody CSF IgM serum.
