摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the nature of saltating population in wind tunnel experiments with heterogeneous size-density sands. The ultimate goal aeolian sediment transport studies is to predict size distributions and densities sand grains that will be entrained together, transported deposited together atmospheric flows varying strengths. mass fluxes three different density sands traveling saltation at heights above a mobile bed are determined chapter. all must approximately lognormally distributed simulate natural conditions. rough, well-mixed, fed into during measurements ensure continued availability sub-populations present stock sand. trend grain increasing friction velocity varies elevation bed, this trait similar for quartz garnet. Sizes both minerals 1 cm increase each increment variable U* over whole experimental range.
