摘要: Charles Darwin laid the foundation for all modern work on sexual selection in his seminal book The Descent of Man, and Selection Relation to Sex. In this work, fleshed out mechanism selection, a hypothesis that he had proposed Origin Species. He went well beyond simple description phenomenon by providing extensive evidence considering far-reaching implications idea. Here we consider contributions with particular eye how far have progressed last 150 years. We focus 2 key questions selection. First, why does mate choice evolve at all? And second, what factors determine strength (or intensity selection) each sex? provided partial answers these questions, progress has been made both topics since time should be seen as one great triumphs evolutionary biology. However, review literature shows aspects are still plagued confusion disagreement. Many areas complex will require new theory empirical data complete resolution. Overall, Darwin's surprisingly relevant study so students biology would advised revisit works. Although significant some research, much accomplish.
