Optical performance monitoring techniques based on pilot tones for WDM network applications

摘要: Feature Issue on Optical Performance Monitoring (OPM). We report the pilot-tone-based optical performance monitoring techniques for use in wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) network. first described operating principle of technique and estimated its scalability by analyzing potential problems. then reviewed proposed various parameters WDM signals--such as power, wavelength, path, cross talk--using pilot tones. also presented examples network elements using technique. In addition, we used adaptive compensators chromatic dispersion polarization-mode dispersion, discussed their limitations possible solutions. For example, demonstrated a simple simultaneously, without affecting each other, scrambling state polarization signal.
