摘要: Publisher Summary Subsystem and system vendors are rapidly developing producing reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs), carriers installing deploying them in their networks. This chapter is a comprehensive treatment of ROADMs application WDM transmission systems networks, comprising review various ROADM technologies architectures, analyses routing functionalities economic advantages, considerations design features other requirements. The complex interplay between properties has also been explored, including detailed discussion static dynamic channel power control. enable an automated transparent network capable rapid reconfiguration. To fully realize this vision within the growing global communication fabric, must be dealing with continual changes, transients varying conditions. Network management solve problems wavelength blocking, path verification, more as photonic layer assumes some tasks previously handled by higher layers. Advanced functionality, such colorless ports, steerable transponders, adaptive passbands, will increasingly sought after, new better solutions for signaling, management, mesh transmission. By meeting these challenges, R&D community help address world's need flexible, economical, scalable
