摘要: Information on Alaskan wolf populations was obtained from examination of bounty records, 4,150 radii and ulnae, 1,262 carcasses, observations wolves inhabiting an area 20,000 square miles where were protected. Pregnant adult female averaged 6.5 fetuses; two-year-old females 5.3 fetuses;female pups not sexually mature. In Alaska, conceive late February through early April but most breed in March. Multiparous earlier than first breeders. produce average 7.3 ova implanted fetuses. The loss ovulation to implantation is significant. more breeders; the difference highly significant. Mortality rather lack initial production believed be reason for observed variations proportion populations. Wolf packs include members all categories sex age during breeding season. Size pack indicator abundance. Wolves they protected increased at rate 20–30% per year 11-year period.
