Clinical and laboratory aspects of urinary tract infections in hospitalized children

摘要: Background: urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common disease of system and second in children. Approximately, 5% girls 1% boys have experienced a UTI by 11 years age. The aim this study was to determine clinical laboratory aspects hospitalized children Razi Hospital Kermanshah, Iran during 2001-2005. Methods: This descriptive one considered evaluate profiles 462 patients with UTI. defined as WBC>5  per high power microscopic field positive culture or passive U/A , symptoms urine culture. Finding data were analyzed using SPSS (13) software. Results: Among patients, 306 cases (66%) female 156 (34%) male (f/m=1.94). 69.4% under 2 year 13.8% them were  older than 5 years. sonographic findings normal 216/392 (55%) patients. organisms isolated Ecoli 240 (53%), Proteus 34(7%) klebsiella 29 (6%) subjects. manifestation fever (48%). In addition, 81 there an other associated that gastroenteritis infection. Discussion:  Based on prevalence UTI, we recommend urinalysis as  primary tests evaluation febrile (especially girls). Pyuria sensitivity can confirm Presence infections cannot exclude diagnosis
