摘要: Abstract Background Depression in older adults is associated with neuropsychological dysfunction, fronto-subcortical brain changes and sleep disturbance. Research suggests that adequate critical for many aspects of cognition including processing speed, verbal skills memory. However, the association between disturbance functioning depression has not been well evaluated. The current study therefore aimed to investigate these relationships. Methods Forty-eight people (mean age = 59.6, sd = 8.2) meeting DSM-IV criteria unipolar major were included analysis. Neuropsychological assessment learning memory, fluency executive functions. Early late insomnia defined by scores on Hamilton Rating Scale. Results While early was related severity poorer global cognition, later age onset, severity, tests associations accounted or onset disorder. Limitations This retrospective nature, did include objective measures sleep. Conclusions first known indicate may be independently aetiologically linked performance, particularly It also underlying structural neurochemical changes. Sleep circadian serve as a biomarker ongoing cognitive decline potentially modifiable risk factor.
