摘要: Abstract This study characterized chemical structures of tetraploid jiaogulan saponins, and investigated their cholesterol-lowering effects mechanisms in hamsters fed a high-fat diet (HFD). Nine including five reported for the first time, were obtained from total saponins (TJS) elucidated according to 2D NMR HR-MS data. Administration TJS effectively decreased plasma cholesterol by 17.4% 32.6%, triacylglycerols 22.8% 47.7% LDL-C 22.0% 40.2%, respectively. Moreover, supplementation with significantly increased faecal excretion bile acids 43.8% 64.4%, up-regulated intestinal mRNA levels ABCG5/8, LXRα, hepatic CYP7A1 ABCG5 on HFD. In addition, micelle solubility suppressed uptake cultured Caco-2 cells. Taking together, may reduce increasing through modulation genes involved absorption metabolism.
