摘要: Occasionally head and neck cancer patients treated with high-energy X rays gamma have titanium metal dental implants in their maxillae or mandibles. The resulting effect of the bone-metal interface on radiation dose is interest. Ionization measurements for 60Co 6 MV 25 were made. A thin-window parallel-plate chamber was used to determine magnitude enhancement that due backscattered electrons from titanium. results showed there a 15% increase solid bone at entrance side For higher energy rays, about same slightly lower than 60Co. Monte Carlo calculations substantiated measurements. This fell off rapidly became negligible 1-2 mm interface. should be taken into account when planning therapy treatment implants.
