Discontinuous design of negative index metamaterials based on mode hybridization

摘要: An electric inductor-capacitor (ELC) resonator provides a series of electrical resonances and pair ELC resonators leads to the split each resonance into two modes, i.e., magnetic corresponding antisymmetric symmetric current distributions. With meticulous design resonator, we can achieve negative index metamaterial through mode hybridization by overlapping first second mode. Such non-connected designs may offer opportunities three-dimensional metamaterials.
