摘要: BACKGROUND The clinical safety and the uptake of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) into serum phospholipids erythrocyte membranes after administration fish-oil-supplemented parenteral nutrition (PN) was investigated in colorectal surgical patients. METHODS Forty patients undergoing surgery (n = 40) with an indication for PN were enrolled a prospective, double-blind, randomized study to receive PUFA-supplemented 20% lipid emulsion (Lipoplus; B. Braun Melsungen, Germany; test group, n 19) 5 days postoperatively. control group received standard fat (Lipofundin MCT/LCT, Germany, 21). Clinical outcome parameters assessed by means adverse events recording hematologic analyses. contents eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) docosahexaenoic (DHA), as well arachidonic (AA), phospholipid fractions plasma erythrocytes analyzed preoperatively, on postoperative 1, 6, 10 using liquid gas chromatography. RESULTS Both emulsions tolerated, none considered be related treatment. Postoperative infectious complications occurred 4 PUFA vs 7 group. As compared had significantly increased levels EPA day 6 (2.0% +/- 0.9% 0.8% 0.5% methyl esters, [FAME]) (2.1% 0.7% FAME, p < .05). Also, higher than same (7.0% 2.6% 1.3% 3.6% 1.0% 0.4% DHA (11.8% 1.9% 8.4% 1.5% 11.2% 1.6% 8.5% 1.4% AA not different both groups. CONCLUSIONS Omega-3-fatty-acids-supplemented are safe very tolerated. This demonstrates that omega-3-PUFA-enriched leads incorporation erythrocytes, whereas remain unchanged. Thus, could have impact inflammatory response abdominal used care when is indicated.
