A qualitative exploration of the misconceptions, knowledge gaps and constructs of leptospirosis among rural and urban communities in Malaysia.

摘要: This qualitative study aimed to explore the misconceptions, knowledge gaps and constructs of leptospirosis among 72 respondents from rural urban districts in two states Malaysia. We conducted focus group discussions data were examined using thematic analyses. The layman term 'rat urine disease' contributed most misconceptions regarding leptospirosis. There states, with majority subjects demonstrating a poor understanding disease. Construction about relied mostly on information provided by mass social media; reading materials; word-of-mouth publicity; observations; experiences; sharing families, friends, communities. findings may provide foundation for development educational materials that reduce knowledge, thereby improve health literacy enhance preventive behaviours avoiding
