Public knowledge, attitudes and practices towards COVID-19: A cross-sectional study in Malaysia

摘要: Abstract In an effort to mitigate the outbreak of COVID-19, many countries have imposed drastic lockdown, movement control or shelter in place orders on their residents. The effectiveness these mitigation measures is highly dependent cooperation and compliance all members society. knowledge, attitudes practices people hold toward disease play integral role determining a society’s readiness accept behavioural change from health authorities. aim this study was determine knowledge levels, COVID-19 among Malaysian public. A cross-sectional online survey 4,850 residents conducted between 27th March 3rd April 2020. instrument consisted demographic characteristics, 13 items 3 practices, modified previously published questionnaire COVID-19. Descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, t-tests one-way analysis variance (ANOVA) were conducted. overall correct rate 80.5%. Most participants held positive successful (83.1%), ability Malaysia conquer (95.9%) way government handling crisis (89.9%). also taking precautions such as avoiding crowds (83.4%) practising proper hand hygiene (87.8%) week before order started. However, wearing face masks less common (51.2%).
