摘要: The partial skeleton of a small reptile, from the Middle Permian Tapinocephalus Assemblage Zone South Africa, is described as new parareptile. Australothyris smithi gen. et sp. nov. diagnosed by contact between postfrontal and supratemporal, relatively large pineal foramen, interpterygoid vacuity, presence teeth on ventral surfaces basipterygoid processes, several other autapomorphies. Phylogenetic analysis an augmented data matrix literature positions A. basally within Parareptilia, sister taxon Ankyramorpha.
