摘要: The Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo has been housing and breeding slender-tailed cloud rats (Phleomys pallidus) since 1985. Records of 82 animals from 1985 to 2013 were reviewed for this study. kept successfully in small family groups with a single adult male, multiple females, their offspring. Sexual maturity was noted at approximately 2 years age gestation length ranged 52 55 days. Animals fed diet including complete commercial pelleted feed, mixed greens, carrot or yam, hard nuts, locally sourced browse. Medical conditions requiring treatment neonates often fatal whereas most medical adults survivable. common cause morbidity mortality maternal neglect trauma (42%, 5/12 antemortem problems; death 32%, 8/25). significant problems cryptococcal pneumonia trauma. Cryptococcus sp. the 11 cases (34%, 11/32) comorbidity an additional three cases. Treatment antifungal medications attempted but unsuccessful four Many treated conservative management limited intervention. In cases, complicated by extensive self-mutilation after surgical repair traumatic lesions, which resulted euthanasia. Lymphoplasmacytic thyroiditis postmortem finding (95%, 21/22 thyroid gland examined histologically). It is unclear if functional hypothyroidism so significance undetermined.
