摘要: Ataxin-2 is an evolutionarily conserved protein first identified in humans as responsible for spinocerebellar ataxia type 2 (SCA2). The molecular basis of SCA2 the expansion a polyglutamine tract Ataxin-2, encoding Lsm domain that may bind RNA and PAM2 motif enables interaction with poly (A) binding protein. Although association has been verified, detailed function not established. We have undertaken survey proteins across all eukaryotic domains. In eukaryotes, except vertebrates land plants, single ortholog was identified. Notably, exception birds, two genes exist vertebrates. Expansion observed plants novel class lacking LsmAD Large polyQ tracts appear limited to primates insects orders Hymenoptera Diptera. A common feature orthologs presence proline-rich motifs, formerly described human Our analysis provides valuable information on evolution structure proteins. Proline-rich motifs mediate interactions are widespread proteins, but associated 2, present only primates, well some insects. also source examine number different species.
