摘要: Potential underestimation of the health system burden pertussis was investigated by linking administrative datasets including notifications, hospitalizations and emergency department (ED) presentations for 1 304 876 children aged <15 years in NSW, Australia. From 2005 to 2008, 3006 had a notification, 455 were hospitalized 644 an ED presentation with coded diagnosis pertussis. Linking hospital records notifications identified 140 735 which occurred ± 7 days from notification but did not have recorded. These additional events more likely bronchiolitis, upper respiratory infection cough compared all other admissions presentations. Including these significantly increased proportion notified cases that or visited EDs, particularly those 5 years. Linked data allowed comprehensive estimation
